Texture
The physical properties of the
surface that give rise to visual texture are not usually easily seen from a distance. As we move nearer we become more and
more aware of the object's
actual texture. These surface details can reveal much about the artwork's material composition and the history of its creation.
Close inspection of these nuances
adds to our understanding
and appreciation of the artist's
creative process and the
artwork's physical presence.
